One who are scrapping company data sets, some business development executives to see the competition, freshers looking for jobs & others. As a business, I’m not getting benefitted rather getting my mailbox spammed with promotional emails & resumes. Hence, use the keywords/keyphrases carefully. Ensure that you know who are your customers or target audience.
Assuming, by now you have listed who are your customers and what are the keywords or key phrases they are using to find that one service provider for their needs. Example:

Make your posts keyword or keyphrase oriented
WordPress Website SEO Guide to improve your SEO ranking
Chances are you’ve encountered the concept of keywords before. These are short phrases that describe your content’s topic. For example, you might choose the keyword “Website developers” for a blog post that talks about one of your services. By doing this, you’re predicting that a lot of people will type the phrase into a search engine when looking for this type of post.
Choosing a keyword for each post or page and using it in various places — such as the title, the headings, and the content itself — is a common way to communicate your topic to search engine crawlers and increase the chances of showing your content in relevant searches.
Of course, you want to be smart about the way you use this tool. For example, it’s best to avoid ‘keyword stuffing’, or forcing your keyword into too many places so that it appears unnatural or spammy.
Let’s take this blog post for an example. Follow the red mark on the image attached above. The focused keyword for this post is.
WordPress Website SEO If you observe the image above you will notice the placement and weight of the focused keyword on this page.
You need to ensure the following:
- The focused keyword is there in the page title
- Be smart and creative when you are planning a page title.
- URL slug also has the focused keyword
- If possible use the category to give more weight to the keyword on the URL slug
- The first paragraph of the content needs to have the keyword that you are focusing on.
Use Yoast SEO plugin. Yoast SEO is a WordPress plugin that helps you optimize posts and pages published on WordPress. It tells you exactly what to change in your content to make it search engine-friendly.
Utilize the keywords or key phrases as tags
WordPress Tags cloud
Tags are essentially keywords for each page/article you create. Tags are intended to be words or very short two or three-word phrases. Adding tags that accurately represent a post or page will increase the chance that it will get its due traffic.
With tags, it is possible to get instant traffic for a blog or blog-based site for an empty niche on the Internet or by creating new content for popular topics, so it’s important to use them appropriately and effectively.
Once these tags are added to your blog posts, you also need to add a description for each and every tag you have used. It will increase the keyword density of your website page.
To go to Tag Edit page:
- Click on Posts from the left sidebar.
- Click on Tags
- Select the tag you want to edit. Click edit.
Note: WordPress assigns a page to each and every tag you have used so far. Example: Apart from
WordPress Website SEO, this post is also focusing on
WordPress SEO . You will see the same in the tag cloud as well. This link will take you to the tag page Click Here
Categorize your blog posts to the most relevant category
WordPress categories are a way of grouping posts on your blog. They are just one of the taxonomies that WordPress uses to organize content on the website.
Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin brought with it a new feature—the ability to set a “Primary” category for a post. You’ll now see a “Make Primary” link when selecting categories (or a bold “Primary” label if one has been set). Some people may confuse this with a native WordPress feature. Which, arguably it should be!
permalink structure is set properly, you will see the primary category in the URL slug. Which is a good way increase the focused keyword weight.
Optimize your blog images & assign alt description to all the images
Images are important for just about any website. They provide visual appeal and context, plus they help break up text and make it more readable. As you’ve probably guessed, they can also have an impact on your SEO. For one, the quality and size of your images can affect your pages’ loading speed, which is a ranking factor.
Also, crawlers will look at certain information attached to images — such as filenames and ‘alt text’ — when trying to index and understand your site. Addressing these two issues will go a long way towards shoring up your SEO. First, be sure to optimize your images and other media, so they have an as little impact on your site’s performance as possible. Then, give each image a descriptive filename and alt text (bonus points if you use a keyword in one or both places).
To assign alt tags to your images:
- Click on Media from the left sidebar.
- Click on the image you want to add alt, title & description
- On the right side, you will get the fields to alter.
Ensure your WordPress Website permalinks are properly structured
Permalinks are the permanent URLs that point to your site’s individual posts, pages, and other content. They’re what people will use to reference and link back to your site, and their appearance matters. Clear, descriptive links that describe their content are easier for search engines to make sense of and tend to get a ranking boost.
WordPress offers a number of automatic permalink options:
A few are based on numbers (such as the Plain and Numeric options), which isn’t ideal since they convey little useful information to search engines. Instead, you’re best off with the Post Name structure since it communicates clearly what the linked content is about. You can easily change your permalink structure (or create a custom one) by visiting your site’s back-end and navigating to Settings > Permalink.
